Dave Glaser guitar and vocals: I'm 6-foot, 175 pounds. I enjoy long walks on the beach . . . OK, really: There's not much to tell on the music end, unfortunately. I started playing guitar in my teens (I'm 41 now) - the height of the 80s hair bands - and played through my college days at USF in Tampa with various garage bands, covering songs of the day from bands like Night Ranger, Scorpions, Sammy Hagar, Van Halen, Judas Priest, etc. When I got my journalism degree in 1988 and started working as a reporter/editor (Sarasota Herald-Tribune and St. Petersburg Times), I put the guitar away for a long period. I "rediscovered" the instrument about five years ago and am now having the time of my life playing with you guys! In my "real life" I'm the director of public relations for TideWell Hospice and Palliative Care. I'm married (17 years!), Whitney, and have a 7-year-old daughter, Sarah. |

Mike Rettig guitar: Born 1965 in Indianapolis In. Started playing music about the age of 9.Favorite musicians include Stevie Ray. Robert Cray to old Eddie Van Halen. Never spent too much time learning music note by note ,just kind of play what comes out. Played in the Bradenton area for about 6 years first with a trio called Almost Famous with myself Tom Whelchel and Jenifer Cosby, then added Dave Russell and Dean Tribble. We lost Dean a few years ago and which really made us struggle with what direction the band should go in. We decided to go with a more powerful rock style and soon came up with the Hyw 41 gang. It has been a blast playing around here The people of Bradenton, from the owners of the clubs that have live music, to the people that come and have a good time have always been great and and responsive to the music we have put out. |
| Kevin Simmons lead vocal/percussion: A DC native, Kevin first found an appreciation for music at age six while listening to the extensive record collection of his teenage aunt. A father of five and Construction Manager for the Wireless Telecommunications Industry he loves taking time to get togehter with bandmates and make some noise. Formal study started in grade school as a percussionist but a Christmas present of a drum set started his garage band years. Culminating with lead vocal duties with the house band for the Washington Capitals hockey team, Damaged Goods. After moving to Florida, Kevin found the some local musicians by putting up an ad at a local music store. Members of the bands Almost Famous and Midnight Alibi have been combined to form Highway 41 and the rest--we hope--is history. |

Dave Russell on Drums: ave Russell plays drums with HWY 41. Dave grew up just outside of Toronto Ontario and owns and runs Rotten Ralph's here on the island. He started playing drums at the age of 9 with a military style Drum Corp and 40 years later he is still playing. He played with several different bands in Ontario doing both original music and cover tunes. Dave spent about 5 years on the road touring before deciding he wanted something more stable. He moved to Florida in 1994, got married to his wife Kay in 1996 and together with their son Tyler they have been running the family restaurant ever since. Dave comes from a long line of musicians though and music is in his blood so he had to keep playing. Dave and Mike played together in Almost Famous and when he had the opportunity to join Mike with HWY 41 he jumped on it. |
